Lucketts Green Antique Commode (or Wash Stand)

The last of my lingering, languishing garage projects is done!  Hubby worked really hard on this one because the top was badly glued and unattached, there was a drawer bottom that had been chewed and one there that needed to be attached again.

My first MMS milk paint project in Lucketts Green, there was no chipping as I had hoped but that might have been because the entire piece has been sanded and was so very dry! The paint mixed nicely and went on nicely once I got used to it.  Painted this in 2 – 4 coats and a chair and still have another project or two that I can do with what is left depending on size.

What do I think?  Quite simply I ADORE it and will be happy to use more in the future   My 5 year old granddaughter  Natalie, was visiting that day and her question after I explained this was an antique piece that I wanted to look old was “Mimi, why are you painting it old instead of pretty?”.

The before shot - it looked worse than this!

We added the harp and towel bar too.

Baby girl, Mimi thinks it looks old and pretty now!
