A certain famous lady made drapes from this fabric and they were posted all over the internet. Miss Sophia found some recently and recovered two vintage chair seats. We think they look fabulous!
And don’t they look terrific with that dresser?
I have told you all before how much I love Miss Mustard Seed’s milk paint but it had never really chipped for me like I had seen on other pages and pieces of furniture. Until Saturday, that is! Take one really old brown dresser and mix up some milk paint….
It was going to be Luckett’s Green but I didn’t have quite enough to measure a half cup so I added some Boxwood to make up the difference. Then I mixed and stirred and shook and began to paint. Nothing really happened until I applied the second coat Sunday morning and then WOW!
My husband pointed out one of the drawers was really chipping and so it was! When I lightly sanded the rest of the piece more chippy goodness showed up (Only once did I say to myself “stop!”. We then varnished the piece and here she is:
I have been guilty in the past of sanding a bit too much and prepping a bit too much but this time I told myself – the finish is worn and it’s fairly clean so stop here! What happens, happens. Boy howdy did it ever and I am thrilled!

First of all, I would like to thank all our loyal customers and friends for their support over the last 8 years. As the saying goes: We couldn’t do it without you.
Three friends – the fourth had dropped out – opened the shop 8 years ago almost exactly. It was scary, exciting, fun and a pain in the neck! We had a terrific little house over in South Salem and every space was filled with treasure!
And then things began to change, not always for the better, as in any life or business venture. Still, here we are 8 years later having fun – with different people – doing what we love and grateful for your support!
We are in a bigger house, in a different location and only Miss Sophia and I are here from the original group. We’ve painted so many pieces of furniture, collected so many smaller treasures and grown as women over the past 8 years – looking forward to many more years!
It’s been awhile since I shared new things in the shop so here we go!
Miss Sophia LOVES this new blue color and so do we!
And Miss Sadie – me! – loves this green color. Used it previously on the labor of love cabinet and now this cute little dresser.
And today, a classic round table updated in black with a dark stained top.
Our 8th Anniversary sale is coming up on the 15th so I KNOW there are new things coming in the next few days!
