1970’s Drexel Makeover

Miss Evie’s mama owned this piece throughout her childhood.  It is heavy as all get out but it is such a quality piece and looks so fresh with GF’s Lamp Black paint and nickel hardware to bring it into the 21st century!

GF’s Lamp Black on a vintage Drexel buffet/sideboard

Perfect as a sideboard or as a television stand!  Hinge one of the drawer fronts to allow access to those things we like tucked away – DVR, receiver, game systems, etc.  Plenty of storage left for games and other necessities!

We warned everyone on both FB and Craigslist to bring strong fellas to load this thing because it is so heavy!  When there are glamour shots available, I will add them.

Just lovely, Miss Evie!!

Before and After

Hubby and I were out doing some junking a couple of weeks ago and came across these pieces in the home of some really nice Hawaii-bound people.  Happy to take them off their hands for their classic style, good condition structurally and a fabulous price.  We knew they were going to need to be refreshed to erase those not-so-nice areas and chips.

They needed to be totally sanded and some areas filled that had chipped away, but it was well worth the effort it took to refresh them.  Both pieces were originally done in the “Limed Oak” finish popular in the 1950’s so they were due a face-lift!

I just love the way they turned out!

As I sit here…..

waiting to see if the noise of the construction outside is going to allow me to open the doors today – I just had to share Miss Sophia’s new fall entry design.  ADORE the vintage green gate at the back and all those lovely fall flower colors!

LOVE the shape of this gate and it is vintage – stored in the rafters of a huge garage for years and years!  We simply washed the dirt off it.  Welcome Fall!

Miss Sophia’s Patina Green Table

Love this old round table with its dark stained top and Patina Green base.  Lightly distressed to age it a little, there is no leaf but at 44″ in diameter, there is plenty of room for four – 6 if they are friendly!  The original casters are on the pedestal to make it easy to move (and who doesn’t love old wooden wheels?)
