We hope this day finds you surrounded by all you love!!!
A gorgeous piece newly painted in Lincoln’s Hat which accents the lines and original hardware beautifully we think! Clear wax finishes the process and gives the color depth and a satin feel.
We love our American Paint Company chalk, clay and mineral paint as you well know if you have been following this blog for long -lol!!
One of our blessing (see that story here) pieces, Miss Sophia took it home and invested lots of work and lots of love in it! She was trying to match (and did a darn fine job of doing it!) Coco with APC’s colors. Vintage Wallpaper lines the back of the display or book shelves .
Miss Sophia and I chose the fabric for this set and are thrilled that Rushmore is such a lovely unexpected match! The large table has been dark stained and the base and chairs are painted and dark waxed. Check out the chunky legs and the new fabric on the seats too!
The chairs are old ones, manufactured by Northwest Chair out of Tacoma, WA. They cleaned up nicely, love the details!
Available in the shop for $495
Not how we were gifted, but it turns out looking like this after some hard work and some new parts!
First of all Miss Evie manufactured a new seat cushion and revamped the seat back. LOVE the nail head trim. I think her choice of fabric is inspired! (Little does she know – we are planning to put her talent to good use after this!)
Some stripped out screw holes needed filling and re-drilling. Some new hardware needed to be ordered (by far the biggest expense – but so pretty!) and attached. Some old hardware needed to be reattached after some bizarre slotted very sharp screws were finally removed with vice grips (again, our Miss Evie!)
Other than that a good cleaning and waxing restored beauty but not perfection because she is OLD after all!!!! (Miss Evie is stressing a little over some filler that didn’t quite match but she is OLD!) Very comfortable seating and here she is in her new glory!
Thank you to the ladies who brought her to us confident, I hope, that we could make her useful and lovely again!
Nice to begin with, Miss Sophia has updated the table with darker stain and painted the chairs in CCC’s Michigan Pine – same color as the buffet from earlier this week. LOVE the fabric!! There is no leaf for the 50″ table but it’s a great size without it too.
I love chalk paint – we all do – but I also love General Finishes’ Milk Paint – this color is MIllstone which we chose to offset the gorgeous handles on this dresser. (The last time I featured a piece done in their milk paint the company called to see if we wanted to stock it – very flattering but not feasible at this time.)
This is a lovely vintage dresser that I bought the second I saw it even with the tired, scratched finish – yep, the handles got me and the rest didn’t matter. Upon further investigation, I fell in love with the lines, the drawers – one has a removable change holder and one is deep with cedar lining – and as always, the wooden casters and the craftsmanship. No markings as to who made it – too bad. (I try to have the hubby double check me so that I don’t buy a huge “project” but this one was loaded before he even saw it – he grumbled a little until he unloaded it and then agreed it was a good purchase!)
Both hubby and I agree we love this milk paint – it covers beautifully, goes on like “butta” and waxes to a soft sheen. We will continue to use it!
Goodness, it’s been a little over a week with no new post-sorry!
Miss Sophia worked on this little desk and turned it into a real charmer-again with her new technique for the top and CCC’s Young Kansas Wheat. Love all the drawers! The lines are charming and the drawers are spacious. The perfect place to write a letter (a book?) , do homework, explore the Internet….
