A bit back I was lucky enough to come across an entire fabulous set of Bassett French Provincial furniture. Family pieces, they were in pretty good condition but needed to be updated. I chose black to highlight the gorgeous hardware and trim pieces.
The first two pieces shown below have found new homes already:
It truly is a pleasure refurbishing quality vintage furniture! We were lucky to be able to purchase this and have had fun redoing it. Last piece to be done is a full size bed set.
First of all, so sorry but it has sold. It turned out so beautifully that after all Miss Evie’s work I had to share – lasted 24 hours in the shop!
She found this heavy thing (ask me, I helped carry it!), hauled it home and painted it with Lincoln’s Hat chalk paint. Then she had the idea of using a little gold gilding powder with their dark wax and proceeded to wear her arms out both waxing and then buffing it!
A bit of strategic distressing and voila’:
So hard to get a proper picture of just how subtle the waxing is – the new owner loves it!!
