We always seem to have lots of books but not many pairs of bookends at any given time.  Found four pair today so I thought I would share.

A talented craftsman – Rusty

Rusty can find the best pieces and now we’ve learned yet again that he can make them too!  This is the third one in the shop that he has either handcrafted entirely of old wood or adapted old pieces to make a new piece of furniture.

the front - an old cupboard door with latch

inside - used to be an old desk

one side - again an old cupboard door

and the back

This has been carefully handcrafted and then stained a rich deep color – just lovely!  Click on the pictures to enlarge them.

P.S. There are two secret drawers inside – come in and find them!!

A little chalkboard project

New chairs on the front porch with new decor for fall!

great floral arrangement on this chair

This one has a newly completed project on it.

a chalkboard made from an old cupboard door

Instructions:  Find CUTE door, scrub off all the dirt, paint center panel with several coats                      of chalkboard paint, have hubby add two eye hooks and old black chain – voila!!

From Start to Finish ~

I saw a really great project on someone’s blog last year but could I find it again to give her credit-No-I’m so sorry!!  I loved the idea and it has taken me this long to find the perfect wood container.  Imagine her filled with dried flowers!

Dirty, dark brown but a great shape!

Again with the Annie Sloan Chalk paint~

First coat of Old White

Second coat and an applique I found in my stash

And the finished project~

Distressed, waxed and the inside lined in book pages

Now she is ready for a new home!

ASCP Duck Egg Blue – sigh……

This is the loveliest color!  Painted this previously sadly worn little piece and absolutely gave her new life!!

In the middle of all the prep-sorry, we got busy!

love the trim on the drawers!

a bit more worn than the other

two coats of paint later

distressed, waxed and priced!

She turned out pretty well we think!  Thanks for the heads up, Miss Addie!

I shared this with :  My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia and Primitive and Proper

A well dressed customer!

Isn't she lovely?

This lovely lady is a familiar customer of ours and she was dressed to visit a friend in the hospital along with the other members of their tea group.  When she stopped by I couldn’t resist getting her picture!  Serene and proper….

And then I asked her to say “Harvey Wallbanger”!  Beautiful smile on a beautiful lady-thank you for being such a great sport!!
