8th Anniversary Reflections

First of all, I would like to thank all our loyal customers and friends for their support over the last 8 years.  As the saying goes:  We couldn’t do it without you.

Three friends – the fourth had dropped out – opened the shop 8 years ago almost exactly.  It was scary, exciting, fun and a pain in the neck!  We had a terrific little house over in South Salem and every space was filled with treasure!

And then things began to change, not always for the better, as in any life or business venture.  Still, here we are 8 years later having fun – with different people – doing what we love and grateful for your support!

We are in a bigger house, in a different location and only Miss Sophia and I are here from the original group.  We’ve painted so many pieces of furniture, collected so many smaller treasures and grown as women over the past 8 years – looking forward to many more years!

A Labor of Love!

First of all, let me tell you that my man loves me with all his heart and shows it on a daily basis – the feeling is quite mutual I assure you!  Occasionally, though, I have to work hard to convince him that he can do what it is I need him to do and that it won’t be terribly overwhelming because I have confidence in him and his many abilities!

(And no, I am not sucking up – much!)

Enter this project…after much convincing (and maybe just a little pouting) this came home with us and we maneuvered her onto the patio out of the rain we knew was coming.  Yes, there were repairs to be made but he did them speedily as I knew he could.

(He also told me a bit later that I was right and my vision saw the potential he had missed.)  He repaired, replaced, sanded and scrubbed (I was at the shop) and then we began to paint on Saturday morning.

This is fabulous paint that magically appeared in my garage because I do not remember buying it – love the vintage green color!  And it was fairly old but it went on beautifully and I adore the coverage.

Now for the shelves!  We located some old tongue and groove he had rescued from the neighbor’s burn pile a few years ago, scrubbed, cut to fit and cleated for stability – and I said “Please don’t paint it!”

Getting it into the shop was tricky and one of the old-too-small wheels shattered so all four were replaced after a trip to the hardware store  Again, not on his list of to-dos today but he always comes thru for me.  New wheels make it actually so easy to maneuver!

And here she is in place and chock full of goodies!

Memorial Day 2015

Today is the day we as a country set aside to honor those men and women who have served our country in war and in peace.  We especially wish to thank publicly those who made the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for men, women and children they do not know on a personal level.  Through their brave service they are responsible for our country’s freedom.  Thank you one and all!

New things in the shop lately!

We have neglected to show you some of our latest finds so I will remedy that right now!

First up – this is not an original idea but the hubby did a terrific job of assembling it when I gave him the pieces, the wheel courtesy of a friend of ours who found several out junkin’!  I knew there was a great use for those old lamp bases I have been collecting too….

Miss Sophia painted this MCM 4 drawer dresser in Freedom Road by APC and left the top and the separator pieces dark stained.  Cool new hardware adds to its charm!
